Covid 19 RT-PCR test

I took the RT-PCR test at the Munich airport.

  • Sampling Date: 18 Nov 2021, 19:31 (CET)
  • Date of Finding: 19 Nov 2021, 17:17 (CET)
  • Sample Type: Throat Swab

Payment

It is possible only to pay with a card. Cash was not accepted

Swab

The person who took the sample was very friendly but the way he took the sample was not so pleasant. There is no other way, we have to tolerate it for a few seconds. He took the samples from the throat (throat swab).

Result

I have received my results in app. 22 hours.

Report language

The RT-PCR test should meet the latest travel requirements. It was mentioned on the Emirates website that it is necessary to submit the RT-PCR test result in English.

Printout

I have received the result once I have arrived at the airport. So, I got the printout directly from the Centogene test center. The test report was in black and white and it was accepted by the airlines.

Note

Because of my sampling timing, I was sure that I will receive the report before the end of check-in of my flight to Dubai. So my advice for the travelers is to make sure that you have given the samples at least 26 hours before your flight. If you do not get the result on time, you may not be allowed to fly.

Air Suvidha Self declaration form

Once I have received the RT-PCR test result, I have filled the Air Suvidha Self declaration form. It took approximately 5 minutes to fill.

Printout

I have saved the file in a Pendrive and went to the copy shop to take a color printout. It was mentioned on the Emirates website that the document should be in the color printout. The form was totally for 3 pages for 2 passengers. It cost me 2 euros for back to back color printout.

Digital version

The digital version of the Air Suvidha Self declaration form and RT-PCR test were not accepted during my travel. So, it is better to have a color hard copy of all the important documents.

Copy shop in Munich Airport

The copy shop is located on Terminal 1. It is inside the service center and it is located exactly opposite to the exit of Centogene. You can find the details here. It is open daily from 6:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Info

  • Emirates need some documents in a colour copy. So make sure you have read the information thoroughly before you go to airport.

Aarogya Setu App

Installed the Aarogya Setu app on mobile. It was asked by the airline’s staff during the check-in at the airport. It’s enough just to install.

DXB Smart App

Installed the DXB Smart app on mobile. It was asked by the airline’s staff during the check-in at the airport. It’s important to log in to the app with the details (info)

At the Airport

Reached Munich airport 4 hours prior to the flight departure. Many shops were opened. So no need to worry about the drinks or food. It is mandatory to wear an FFP2 mask everywhere inside the airport.

Check-in

Did online check-in before one day. They have checked the below documents before providing the boarding pass.

  • Covid 19 RT-PCR test result
  • Air Suvidha Self declaration form
  • Aarogya Setu App
  • DRX smart app

Security check

Security check was normal as before but with the social distance between the passengers. There was no waiting time due to fewer passengers. There were many shops near the gates to get drinks or food.

Border control

Border control was very smooth. The passport and residence permit was verified by them.

Travel

Boarding

Boarding started before approximately 20 minutes. Only the boarding pass and the passport were checked. No masks, sanitizers, or PPE kits were provided during boarding. One medical mask was provided after the flight has taken off.

There were very few Indians, approximately 20 to 30 Indians on board, and the rest of them were foreigners. The flight was not fully booked.

Tasty foods were served on the flight. There were also pillows, blankets like before. So the entire journey was very comfortable.

Transit

After 6 hours of journey, I have reached the Dubai airport. Things are totally different at the airport. There were lots of people.

My next flight was after 15 hours. So, I have reached the end of gate B to take a rest. There were fewer passengers and enough places were there to take a rest in silence.

I had food at the food village and then took a rest near gate C. There were plenty of free places available at the Dubai airport to take a rest. So no need to worry about the long waiting time.

Arrival at the Bangalore airport

Approximately 4 hours later, the flight was landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. There was nothing special things happened at the airport. Picked up the luggage and left the airport. Noone of the documents was checked by anyone.
